In two days I will be in Disneyland Paris, the excitement is now very real. Lets face it I look forward to everything at Disneyland, the whole experience for me is something special every time I go. However, this trip is slightly different, not only am I going in the midst of the 25th Anniversary celebrations but it is a trip full of firsts for me. This will be my eighth time visiting a Disney park but it will be my first time staying on Disney property, my first time using the meal plan and most importantly my first time going with someone I am crazy about, and I get to share my love for Disneyland with the person I love. I have narrowed it down to five things I am most looking forward to on this trip, it was a difficult task but here goes, in no particular order these are the five things I am most looking forward to for my upcoming trip to Disneyland Paris.
First on my list is the Illuminations fireworks show, which has recently replaced Disney Dreams for the 25th anniversary, which means it is a brand new show. Now I can get get excited about any Disney fireworks show, and this is coming from someone who is deathly afraid of fireworks in any other capacity. But as with most things at Disney it is different, for one i don't feel like my life is in danger in anyway so that is a definite plus. The night time shows at Disney are always amazing, in my opinion they alone are worth buying a ticket for the park, and from past experience they tend to go all out for special occasions, and since this is the 25th anniversary I am excited to see what Illuminations has to offer.
Don't get me wrong Disneyland looks gorgeous all the time, but when they put in the effort for an event it is just spectacular. For example I was in Orlando for Halloween last year and the pumpkin Mickey decorations are just the most adorable things ever. Disney really go all out for big events. I haven't seen too much of what the decoration is like for the 25th anniversary because I didn't want to spoil myself, but I have seen a few photos of these little silver and blue Tinkerbells on the lamp posts and they are just the cutest things. If the rest of the decorations are half as good as this I will be very happy (expect to be bombarded with photos from me).
I love meeting the characters at Disney, it is not just for kids. I commend any cast members who are employed as characters because without a doubt they make your time at the park all the more special. In my opinion that is what makes Disney like no other theme park. Last year in Orlando my Disney dream came true when I met Peter Pan for the very first time. Even though I got to meet my favourite character it was the characters I didn't expect that gave me some of the best memories and the best photos, notably Winnie the Pooh, Chewbacca and Sadness. They were all great! I am so looking forward to seeing who I can meet in Paris, especially in their anniversary costumes. I know from experience that the characters in Paris are extremely popular and always have huge lines, but I am keeping hopeful.
I have a lot of people say to me that they don't think they would enjoy Disneyland because they don't like rides. My reply to them is you can go and enjoy the parks without going on a single ride, Disney is so much more than that. That said the rides are pretty damn cool. There are always certain rides I always look forward to, Phantom Manor or Haunted Mansion being my favourite, but always Rockin' Rollercoaster and Tower of Terror too. This time I am very excited to ride the new Space Mountain at Disneyland Paris, now called Hyperspace Mountain, with Star Wars theming, whats not to love about that.
So last but certainly by no means least I am looking forward to sharing my first Disneyland experience and my first holiday with my boyfriend. This may seem a little soppy but I really don't care. Going to Disney is an important experience for me, and although I have been with some of my best friends I have had the chance to share it with someone I am in a relationship with. I am so excited to share this thing I love with the person I love. Disneyland is a huge part of my life in many ways and its such a nice feeling to be able to share that with someone I care so much about. I just hope he enjoys it, Disney is not really his thing but he bought me this trip as a gift all the same. I am so grateful to him for giving me this experience.
So in two days I will be there and hopefully will be able to do all the things on this list. Let me know what would be the thing you would most look forward to?
